The Guardian™ series Hotplates and Stirrers feature a unique safety feature to protect users in the lab. Knowing when the top plate is hot to the touch can prevent accidental burns. To keep users safe, all Guardian models have a hot top indicator light.
This 13 mm hot top indicator light is prominently featured on all models from the Guardian 2000 to the Guardian 7000. Once the Guardian’s heater reaches 40°C, the indicator light turns on and will stay illuminated even when the Guardian power switch is turned off. Only when the Guardian’s heater temperature drops below 40°C will the indicator light shut off.

From the basic Guardian 2000 to the intelligent Guardian 7000, every Guardian has a prominent hot top warning light.
The Guardian series features 4 levels of hotplates and stirrers, the
Guardian 2000,
3000,
5000, and
7000.
The hot top indicator always illuminates once the heater reaches 40°C
Guardian Series Heated Under 40°C
Guardian Series Heated Over 40°C
The hot top indicator will stay lit when over 40°C even when the power is shut off.
Once the power buttons are switched off, the screens for the
Guardian 3000,
5000, and
7000 will change to display prominently the word "HOT". Additionally, on the
Guardian 5000 and
7000, the screen displays the current heater temperature as the unit is cooling off. The analog Guardian 2000 is without display, yet the hot top indicator light also remains lit after the power is switched off.
The warning light stays lit until it cools below 40°C
Once the Guardian reaches a safe temperature, all hot top indicator features will shut off. The Guardian heating surface has now cooled off so is safe if touched by the user. (The Guardian must be plugged in for this feature to work)
